OFTEC, Oil Heating and tanks

If you are thinking of renewing your oil fired boiler or oil storage tank, you must use an engineer who is OFTEC registered. This ensures that they have been trained to the required standards to carry out the work and can self-certify their installation work.

More than 1.5 million homes currently use oil to heat their homes. It is an ideal choice for properties that are unable to be connected to mains gas, as it is cheaper than LPG and cleaner than solid fuel.
 

Since April 2007, all new oil boilers installed must be high efficiency condensing boilers. These work in the same way as the gas boilers by using the heat which is normally lost through the flue and converting it in to energy on which the boiler runs. Like gas boilers, Conventional, System and Combination types are available, but you also have the option locating your boiler outside (only available on Conventional and Combination types), which can save vital space.
